Supporting the inclusion, participation and personal development of vulnerable adults through learner-centred, empowering and inclusive educational approaches. The course focuses on practical strategies that strengthen confidence, autonomy, social integration and lifelong learning opportunities.


Sending partners

Educational organisations involved in formal, non-formal and informal learning: adult education centres, VET providers, training organisations, NGOs, community learning centres, social services and other institutions active in the adult education field, established in Erasmus+ programme countries.


Participants

20–25 adults involved in education, training or social support.


Course fee

According to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide: 80 EUR per participant per training day, including course preparation, training delivery, training materials, organisational and administrative costs, and 24-hour emergency support during the mobility.


Trainers

A multinational team of trainers from Portugal, Romania, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Poland, experienced in Erasmus+ training and international education, including collaboration with SALTO and training activities delivered in more than 15 European countries.


Languages used

Working language: English.
Training materials are provided in English. Upon request, support or materials may be available in Spanish or French, depending on the group composition.


Profile of the participants

The course is designed for adult educators, trainers, social workers, counsellors and staff working with vulnerable or disadvantaged adults.

Participants:

  • Work with adults facing social, economic, educational or cultural barriers
  • May have previous experience or be beginners in inclusive adult education
  • Are interested in increasing participation, motivation and self-confidence among learners
  • Are willing to actively engage in experiential activities, case studies and collaborative work
  • Are open to intercultural learning and exchange of practices
  • Are motivated to implement inclusive learning strategies and to engage in preparatory and follow-up activities
  • Aim to strengthen the European dimension of their organisation through inclusion and social integration

Objectives

  • Understand the needs and barriers faced by vulnerable adult learners
  • Develop learner-centred and empowering educational approaches
  • Strengthen motivation, confidence and autonomy through inclusive methods
  • Apply non-formal and experiential learning techniques
  • Improve communication, trust building and supportive learning environments
  • Support social inclusion, employability and community participation
  • Develop an implementation plan for inclusive adult learning programmes

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Day 1 – Understanding vulnerability and inclusion

  • Introductions, expectations and group-building activities
  • Who are vulnerable adult learners? Profiles and challenges
  • Barriers to access, participation and retention
  • Reflection: participants’ contexts and learner needs
  • Mapping support resources and opportunities

Day 2 – Building motivation and confidence

  • Adult learning principles and engagement strategies
  • Techniques for strengthening self-esteem and learner autonomy
  • Goal setting and personal learning pathways
  • Case studies and role-play
  • Reflection and peer exchange

Day 3 – Inclusive and experiential methods

  • Non-formal and experiential learning approaches
  • Practical activities for mixed-ability and diverse groups
  • Communication and trust-building techniques
  • Designing inclusive learning sessions
  • Group practice and feedback

Day 4 – Skills for life, employability and social inclusion

  • Developing life skills, communication and teamwork
  • Linking learning to employability and community participation
  • Partnerships with local services and organisations
  • Designing a learner support pathway
  • Group work and peer feedback

Day 5 – Implementation and sustainability

  • Developing individual or organisational action plans
  • Monitoring progress and evaluating impact
