Designing, implementing and managing high-quality Erasmus+ projects in school education. The course supports teachers and school leaders in developing strong project ideas, building effective partnerships and ensuring impact, sustainability and European added value.
Sending partners
Educational organisations involved in formal, non-formal and informal learning: kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, VET schools, training organisations, resource centres and other institutions active in the school education field, established in Erasmus+ programme countries.
Participants
20–25 education professionals.
Course fee
According to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide: 80 EUR per participant per training day, including course preparation, training delivery, training materials, organisational and administrative costs, and 24-hour emergency support during the mobility.
Languages used
Working language: English.
Training materials are provided in English. Upon request, support or materials may be available in Spanish or French, depending on the group composition.
Profile of the participants
The course is designed for teachers, school leaders and educational staff involved or interested in Erasmus+ and international cooperation in school education.
Participants:
- Work in preschool, primary or secondary education
- May have previous experience or be beginners in Erasmus+ projects
- Are interested in developing international cooperation and innovation in their school
- Are willing to actively participate in workshops, group work and project design activities
- Are open to intercultural learning and exchange of practices
- Are motivated to develop concrete project ideas and to engage in preparatory and follow-up activities
- Aim to strengthen the European dimension of their institution
Objectives
- Understand Erasmus+ opportunities and priorities in school education
- Identify school needs and transform them into strong project ideas
- Design coherent project structures with clear objectives, activities and results
- Build effective international partnerships and collaboration strategies
- Understand financial rules, quality standards and project management requirements
- Develop dissemination, impact and sustainability strategies
- Prepare a concrete project outline ready for application or implementation
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify development needs at classroom and school level
- Formulate clear and measurable project objectives aligned with Erasmus+ priorities
- Design learning activities such as mobilities, job shadowing, training or collaborative projects
- Structure a project timeline, roles and responsibilities
- Apply basic budgeting principles and understand funding rules
- Develop quality assurance, monitoring and risk management strategies
- Plan dissemination and impact activities at local, national and European level
- Prepare a draft Erasmus+ project concept with an implementation plan
Daily Programme
Day 1 – Erasmus+ in school education and European dimension
Key activities & methodology
- Welcome, introductions, expectations and needs analysis
- Icebreakers focused on international school cooperation
- Overview of Erasmus+ opportunities in school education (KA1, KA2, eTwinning, ESEP)
- The European dimension: inclusion, digital, green and participation priorities
- Mapping school development needs and internationalisation goals
- Group discussion: challenges and opportunities in school projects
Day 2 – From school needs to strong project ideas
Key activities & methodology
- Identifying school challenges (inclusion, digital competence, wellbeing, sustainability, etc.)
- Needs analysis tools: surveys, self-assessment frameworks, school development plans
- Defining clear objectives and expected outcomes
- Linking school needs with Erasmus+ priorities
- Workshop: transforming needs into concrete project ideas
- Peer feedback and refinement
Day 3 – Designing activities and building partnerships
Key activities & methodology
- Types of learning activities: courses, job shadowing, teaching assignments, student mobility, cooperation projects
- Structuring work plans, timelines and responsibilities
- Partner search strategies and criteria for selection
- Communication tools for international collaboration
- Risk identification and mitigation strategies
- Group task: building a draft project structure
Day 4 – Budgeting, quality and project management

- Understanding Erasmus+ funding rules for school education
- Budget categories and practical calculation exercises
- Documentation and financial transparency
- Quality assurance tools: indicators, monitoring and internal evaluation
- Managing changes and unexpected situations
- Q&A clinic based on participants’ project ideas
Day 5 – Dissemination, impact and sustainability
Key activities & methodology
- Designing dissemination strategies for schools and local communities
- Using school websites, social media, events and eTwinning for visibility
- Measuring impact on students, teachers and school development
- Integrating results into school policies and practices
- Workshop: drafting a dissemination and impact plan
- Peer review and improvement
Day 6 – Transfer, action planning and certification

- Finalising project drafts and individual action plans
- Reflection on learning outcomes and professional development
- Practical tips for application writing and submission
- Using European recognition tools (Europass Mobility, certificates)
- Course evaluation and feedback
- Certification ceremony and closing session
