Designing, delivering and managing engaging online learning experiences that promote interaction, inclusion and effective learning outcomes. The course supports educators in using digital tools, active methodologies and structured approaches to create dynamic virtual classrooms.
Sending partners
Educational organisations involved in formal, non-formal and informal learning: kindergartens, schools, VET providers, adult education centres, training organisations, resource centres and other institutions active in the education field, established in Erasmus+ programme countries.
Participants
20–25 adults involved in education.
Course fee
According to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide: 80 EUR per participant per training day, including course preparation, training delivery, training materials, organisational and administrative costs, and 24-hour emergency support during the mobility.
Trainers
A multinational team of trainers from Portugal, Romania, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Poland, experienced in Erasmus+ training and international education, including collaboration with SALTO and training activities delivered in more than 15 European countries.
Languages used
Working language: English.
Training materials are provided in English. Upon request, support or materials may be available in Spanish or French, depending on the group composition.
Profile of the participants
The course is designed for teachers, school staff and adult trainers who deliver or plan to deliver online or blended learning.
Participants:
- Work with learners of different ages, abilities or educational contexts
- May have basic or intermediate digital skills; no advanced technical expertise is required
- Are interested in improving learner engagement, interaction and motivation in virtual environments
- Are willing to actively participate in hands-on practice, simulations and collaborative design
- Are open to intercultural learning and exchange of practices
- Are motivated to implement online teaching strategies and to engage in preparatory and follow-up activities
- Aim to strengthen the European dimension of their institution through digital and flexible learning approaches
Objectives
- Understand key principles of effective online and blended learning

- Apply strategies for managing virtual classrooms and maintaining learner participation

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Plan and deliver structured online lessons aligned with learning objectives
- Use synchronous and asynchronous tools effectively
- Apply interactive methods such as breakout activities, polls and collaborative tasks

- Manage learner participation, motivation and classroom dynamics online
- Design inclusive virtual learning experiences adapted to different needs
- Develop and present an online teaching module or lesson plan
- Plan evaluation, follow-up and integration of online learning at institutional level

Day 1 – Foundations of effective online teaching

- Challenges and opportunities of online learning
- Principles of online pedagogy and learner engagement
- Overview of synchronous vs asynchronous learning models

Day 2 – Tools for interaction and collaboration
- Video conferencing features for active learning
- Breakout rooms, polls, shared boards and collaborative documents
- Designing interactive online activities
- Hands-on practice and peer feedback

Day 3 – Creating engaging digital content
- Designing presentations and multimedia learning materials
- Recording short instructional videos or tutorials

- Accessibility and inclusive design principles

Day 4 – Assessment and classroom management online
